The ASN respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the privacy of the information we collect from our members, users and visitors to this website.

What is Personal Information and How do we collect it?

When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

Use of material from events and functions

We may take photos at functions that may include members. We respect that some members may not wish to have their names or images in any public forums associated with ASN including this website, ASN Social Media, ASN newsletters or ASN promotional materials.

Information we collect

For users who register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Only the registered user can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information after a written request from the user, for example, to correct an error in the information.

The kind of personal member information ASN collects includes:

  • Your contact information – name, address, email address and telephone number;
  • Whether you are a grower or not;
  • Other information you supply from time to time to obtain the best value from your membership, for example, the distance you are prepared to travel to a field day.

Who we share your data with

ASN does not pass on, share, sell, rent or trade any of your information with third parties for any purposes.

Member Login

If you log in to this site, the site will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Analytics data holds no personal information, like names, that will directly link you to geographic and demographic information that we collect. Access to and correction of your Personal Information

ASN relies on the information that users provide, and it is the users’ responsibility to ensure that the information they submit is accurate.

You may access the personal information we have collected about you. You may correct your personal web account information at any time by logging into your account and amending your profile. 

You can also request to receive an exported file of any personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data quality and security

While ASN takes reasonable precautions to protect the information it holds from unauthorised use, the nature of the information systems is such that the security of information cannot be guaranteed. ASN relies on commercially available technologies for the security of its information systems – this applies not only to ASN but to the use of online information security systems in general.

ASN relies on the information that users provide, and it is the users’ responsibility to ensure that information they submit is accurate.

Data storage

Please note that the personal information you submit using some of the services on our website (including Google Analytics) will be stored on secure databases which reside in Australia, or outside Australia. If you do not want your personal information being stored offshore, please do not submit personal information to us when you use any of the services on our website.

How long we retain your data

You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.
